Fructus Benedicti
History
GOD’S PLAN … How else would you describe the meeting of individuals stranger to each other and the new community they now call home. How else could they have easily bonded in their common desire to serve the Lord through Music as they did so during their younger years. This is the miracle of the Fructus Benedicti Choir and the Fructus Benedicti Family…
It all started when we attended an acquaintance party of the Parents’ Association of St. Scholastica’s College-Westgrove, Cavite in August 2002. One of the games in the event was the “Sing-Alis” where we got to hear the singing talents of our co-parents. This prompted us to discuss among ourselves the possibility of forming a parents’ choir for the school PA’s Christmas Caroling Project and the 7:30 a.m. Sunday mass at the St. John Bosco Parish in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. We had our first meeting and practice on the 13th of October 2002 where the SSC sisters baptized us with the name “Fructus Benedicti” which means Holy Fruit of St. Benedict, and the rest, as they say, is history. To date we have had some FB members come and go and have likewise been blessed with new and younger singers who share our common commitment to serve in the Parish Music Ministry by singing in the 7:00 a.m. Sunday mass at SJBP.
The three years of Covid Pandemic were trying and difficult times for most church choirs and FB was not spared from all these but God’s Hand continues to guide and support us in our mission to animate the Sunday mass through our God-given talents and so that in all things God may be glorified!
